Hi, well that "black coating" probably is Nitride coating, i know the
Bearing industry uses that process on most carbide for cutting steels like
4140,52100,440c, 17-4ph.....The bearing plant i am familiar with has their
own oven system and routinely coats their cutters after sharpening. cul
