i guys,
I think I am missing something here.
supposing
power = core area ^2
http://home.eunet.cz/rysanek/sup_en.html
power in watts
core area is the sq cm profile of the center of the transformer
my ship anchor sized transformer has a core size 4.1" x 4.1" that's a
108 sq cm.
that's 11,664 watts. @ 110vac that's 106 amps ?
just guessing here, but that is a tad large for four 2.5 amp steppers.
Transformer will eat watts just to magnetize the coil, plus the watts
used by the load. Assuming a 20% efficiency, there is a larger waste
of power than I use?
Help me out here guys, am I just missing this transformer sizing
altogether ?
