Hi Todd,
Reverse polarity or significant overvoltage = BaBAAANNNGGG!!!
This is a high pressure release and is only designed to pop under
extremely dangerous conditions - to avoid the can exploding
catastrophically. Under ALL normal circumstances, the vent hole is
closed and you needn't worry.
