I think it is Manual Data Input. Regardless of the proper definition of the
acronym it means that you manually type in and execute g-code one line at a
time. I use it frequently to cut simple items. It is a great way to go when
a jog will not give you enough control and the item is too simple to be
worth the trouble to draw it up in CAD.
