You may mean you don't run your machines at all?? Otherwise there's always
opportunity for damage of some kind. Anyway an impact sufficient to bend a
screw end or motor shaft would probably damage the motor over a rigid mount
too. But anyway, in this case you already had the answer: put a cover over
them. Heck, I thought the method had considerable ingenuity to recommend
it. A simple rigid coupling solves for all times the problems with
alignment compensating couplers and simplifies the mounting to boot.
