Yes the box has an internal pulse generator that could be varied by the
speed control pot. But it also could by flipping a switch use a pc for a
pulse generator also.

So this device you designed, just replaced the computer.
You would plug your stepper motor driver in to it? correct?
I'm sorry, I'm understanding more about CNC but I'm still lacking. I
just about understand steppers. They are like a regular burshless
motor (coils on outside of shaft). They rotate by the magnetic fields
moving. the field rotates by different coils being turned on and off.
These coils are turned on and off by a "driver". This driver provides
power to the different coils in a specific way as to make the motors
spin.(step dir) These drivers are told what to by a controller. This
controller (normally for us a PC) is reading gcode or a program
running on the controller. Or in this case your "black box"
Is this more are less correct or am I more confused than I think?
