Hi, Bill:
If you're working with large machines, and comparing Gecko Servo drivers to
Gecko Stepper motors, I'll agree with your comments. However, if you're
willing to use surplus equipment, lower performing (at least in terms of
current capability) drivers, you might find a considerable difference.
Consider that stepper motors suitable for a Sherline mill or lathe can be
purchased for around twenty bux and a Xylotex costs around a hundred bux for
three axes. Will this drive something like a Bridgeport satisfactorily, NO.
But, the combination has driven several Sherlines (and other desktops)
without any problems.
