Al,
Pretty straight forward and many ways to do it. One solution that comes
to mind is to get a E-labs http://www.elabinc.com/ EDE-1204 bipolar
stepper drive chip. It is a custom programmed PIC chip that includes a
step generator or can be driven by an external step generator. It
outputs the proper phase signals to drive a L298 bridge. There are also
a number of step generator circuits in the files section of this group
that will directly drive a step and direction driver ( www.xylotex.com
now has a low cost single axis stepper board ).
Hope this helps. It is a little off topic for the group, but the concept
is identical to making a non-computer driven power feed which is very on
topic. So if we just talk about driving your machine without a computer
we can sneak this by Bill <g>. Actually there was a thread on this about
a week ago if you search the archives.
