This is NOT an "early Bridgeport", even though it has an M head. It has
the dovetail ram, which
was introduced in 1962, I believe. Before that, there were round-ram
J-head machines, and
all before about 1955 or so, were round-ram M head (or other heads, B,
C, etc). It looks like
you have the big knee, with 12" of Y travel, too. The earlier ones had
only about 9" of Y
travel. Your Y ways on the front of the knee are in good shape. Mine
looked like they'd been
used for an anvil! Your saddle also has oil feed from both ends of the
saddle (4 points).
Mine only had oil feed from the right end, and oil never made it all the
way to the left end,
causing a lot of wear. I drilled new holes to supply oil from both
ends. Nice ballnut yoke
setup. Who is that from?

What software are you going to run with those fancy amps & control card?

I have serial 1388, made in 1942, with the round ram.
