Hi Raul,
There is an disable switch (open to run, I believe) that is connected
pins 7 to 12. Does the motor have holding torque? Then it's got power.
You have probably read this Gecko white sheet:

To make the motor move (and I'm sure you already know this) you need to
provide a stream of pulses (active low) to the step line, and the
direction line is held either high or low, depending on the direction
desired.
The pulse must be a minimum .5 Us low, and 4 Us high. It must be TTL
levels, and the Gecko will sink 16ma. Insure that your parallel port
can provide this (assuming you are driving with a parallel port).
