I have seen plastic welders at harbor freight. You could go to their web
site and take a look at theirs. I think it is only ~$50.

Soon I hope to get started on a project to weld Polyethylene sheet (6-10
mil) using CNC to control the welding head.

The CNC part is no problem. Does anyone have and information on designs
for a head to weld Polyethylene sheet ?

Playing with a simple heat wire stripper I'm able to get string welds
but soon realize I need to control the heat and keep the welding head
moving.

Any tips or links would be welcome.
