Which of the low cost (or free) programs can import and export
Autocad compatable files?
*******
Good question, I don't think AutoCAD is compatable with it's own
files. However, there are amny programs that claim to import AutoCAD
files. The R12 version is what I export from Rhino or any other
program to read in VECTOR. I understand TurboCAD will import the R12
files properly.
If one is doing 2D or 2 1/2D work there are several "FREE" programs
available. There are many more "Very Reasonable" programs out
there.
I do suggest one pick a program theat will do more than you see the
need for now. Hopefully, you will not need to learn a "New" program
on short notice when you make a promise your 'software' can't handle.
At present time, I am looking for a new program that will run on
LINUX and WinDoze. LinuxCAD ($100), QCAD (free) and AC3D ($40) are
cantidates right now. The military also has BRL-CAD that runs in
LINUX and other systems but not WinDoze.
