The Roland EGX-30 (formerly CS-20) desktop engraving machine (see
http://www.progressivesignsystems.com/roland/engravers/egx-30.htm) uses
this approach, but with a round belt. There is a 3:1 stepup between the
motor and spindle, and the wide pulley is on the motor.
