I purchased the plans and am not sorry I did.

I searched for the materials and gave up as it was a lot of work for
each piece and my local shops were anything but friendly. Seems
$100.00 was the starting price for a piece of scrap.

I would up getting some linear slides on e-bay for $25.00 and that
did most of the hard parts.

I feel it was a good investment and do not regret the purchase, but I
too went on to design my own.

I've used all-thread and found it works ok, espically for a first
time project.

If you are interested in PCB milling his book on that takes a lot of
the hassels out of the learning curve.
