I had the "Shooting Star" (3d) DRO factory installed on my Shoptask when I
got it. I later got and installed the serial kit in the DRO that sends the
readout to the serial port when you send a "g" to the DRO. I haven't used
that in any feedback scheme, but it does work.
I checked the DRO with a dial indicator, and they read 1:1 over the range of
the dial indicator. I feel confident that the DRO is more accurate than the
chinese leadscrews on the axes.
I am very pleased with the DRO and recommend it. When it is mounted, arrange
to have the scales (or rack) protected from foreign objects.
