The point at which the machines become different is when one machine is
controlled via Turbo CNC and the other is controlled via the MaxNC G-code
interpreter (or name any 2 from TCNC, MaxNC, SuperCam, Mach1, EMC, Fanuc,
.... the list is as long as you like at this point). In other words, it is
the dialect of G-code (or whatever language the CNC control understands)
that makes the post processing requirements differ.
