I'm guessing that many blasts with a little hammer are as efficient
as a few blasts with a large hammer. The pieces get bigger when using
the big one.(G).

A larger capacitor slows down the sparks per minute due to a longer
charging time. The electrode moves toward the work after the preset
capacitor voltage is reached. The spark occurs when the gap is small
enough to breakdown. If one allows the electrode to touch the work I
would guess you will have something like a carbon arc system and
melt some metal.
