Incorrect. You are lubricating the screws and the ways. On a CNC full size
mill it is a darn good idea to have one.

A one shot has a spring loaded plunger that dispenses a fixed amount of oil
for each time it is pulled up. A pump style continually dispenses oil. The
one shot type can be motor driven so that there is pressurized oil at all
times if the flow rate and the motor rate are set properly.

For light duty a mister works great. If you are doing heavy cutting a flood
can remove more heat and provide more lubrication to the cutting tool. Flood
is much more messy than mist, but mist can "fog" up an area if you run it at
a high volume.
