I've been using a Bridgeport round ram mill (basically a Series I, but 9
x 32" table and
9" of Y travel) for several years with a 90 IPM max rapid feed, but
rarely go over 45
IPM for safety reasons. When I'm doing long, repetitive jobs, I
sometimes crank
the feed rates up to 60 IPM. Unless you are doing a LOT of long moves
from one
end of the X to the other end, it just doesn't take very long to get
where you are
going. I rarely cut above 15 IPM in Aluminum.
