There was a commercial attachnment here in the UK at one time called
an Audit that did just what you have and was supplied as a retrofit
to centre and capstan lathes.
The Z axis was tilted up at the rear and held a Duplo tool turret.
They were very popular and reliable and at the time were a cheap
entry into the CNC market for lathes.
