Hi,
Would suspect that the printer driver is trying to check the printer
status. Windows and any of the new printers have a pretty active
dialog even when not printing. Try uninstalling the printer.

The other response on windows and CNC is correct. You don't have very
good timer control under windows. Its always interupting you for one
reason or another. There is a nice free demo of a XP windows
controller at www.artofcnc.com . It will run without a licence G-code
programs up to about 1,000 line of code. If nothing else you can use
it to test out your driver.
