For a VERY "raw beginning", the in-stock book-offerings at Radio Shack may be
of use to you. A very good text beginning with elementary topics in
electronics, yet important ones that we all use "subconsciously" everyday, on up
through current digital logic thought is: HOROWITZ & HILL: THE ART OF
ELECTRONICS, 2. Edition, Cambridge University Press. I paid $65 + tax at the nearest
Barnes & Noble. You have my empathies!
