When I converted my mill some time back, I opted to make my own split hub, disc type flexable couplings out of 7075 Alum, on my mini lathe ,that allowed for a 2 degree shaft misalignment and they are working perfectly to this day.Cost me around $15 in Alum, and about 3 hours worth of my time.It was a great learning experience besides(first real lathe project)
This was done largely because of the unusual sized bores that I needed and I figured since I was going to have to take the chance of messing up some couplings ...better it to be ones that I can make again versus some that cost me a hundred bucks or more to begin with!
