lower current to steppers?

Let's say I have some 1000oz steppers, 6A. If I were to
run the drive at 4A, would that sorta be like running
a 670oz motor (two thirds of the torque, at two thirds
of the current limit?)

Just wondering. Both cases would be ~22x nameplate voltage.
