bridgeport boss loose quill splines question

I am looking at buying at series 1 boss rigid ram machine
the only thing I can find wrong is it
you can grab the spindle nose and twist
and feel that it has a fair amount of play
in the quill splines

has anyone had one of these apart

and are parts for the head avalible
