randy, just curious why you need more resolution. I use a 1/2"-20
leadscrew( I wish I had a 1/2"-5, more speed) 5 TPI with a 200 steps
per rev. stepper resolution is still .001" per step.

20 TPI=.00025 inches per step on my step motor.

20 TPI x 200 steps per rev = 4000 steps per inch( this is how many
steps it takes on a stepper to move 1") 1/4000=.00025" per step.
thats pretty small.
