haven't left anyone out) for your answers.
It was a bit disingenuous asking here, since it isn't strictly home-shop
related, and for that I'll take any lumps coming to me.
The application is in fine-adjusting an optical alignment by stepper motor,
but we want to do it on the cheap (thus, the "home-built" aspect even
though it's for quantity building...)
I had thought of gutting a cheap micrometer for prototyping, but Ball
Screws & Actuators in San Jose (as JanRwl suggested) does indeed make
allthread in pitches as fine as 1/4-80. I knew of them for leadscrews, but
was totally unaware that they made precision allthread!
