I saw a post some time ago from someone who was making a few series
of holes. they ran the X axis then drilled, moved again, drilled,
and so on till the end of the row, then moved the Y and reversed the
X direction.

by doing a rapid back to the X starting point and only moving the X
in one direction, they decreased their time per part signifigantly.

go figure.
