Hello Everyone,
I thank you for your positive responses and feedback about the
concept of this kit. A touch of clarification is in line: Kit is
designed for the "Sieg" "X2" style mini-mills; Grizzly #G8689, Harbor
Freight #44991, Homier #03947, and Micro Mark # 82573. I will work on
other kits as time allows. I am still developing the X&Y ball screw
set-up for the mills. I am looking for feedback as to whether pre-
loaded ball screws are a must with everone interested. The ball
screws I have chosen are Thomson 5/8" DIA .200 lead (5TPI). I am
having some BSA screws quoted as well. As for stepper size I feel it
is a choice that has many facets, with budget as the first followed
by desired use. I have run the X&Y with single stack NEMA 23's rated
at 116oz/in using modest feeds and speeds. I am currently running
double stack NEMA 23's (180 oz/in 4.5V 2.0A)in a direct drive set-up
with good results. I am using a Xylotex based driver board with 24V
pwr supply. I would say this is the most economical approach with
solid results. I will be trying some higher voltage drives to
determine if the added expense yields much better performance and a
baseline for recommendations. With the current set-up (direct drive,
180 oz/in, 20TPI stock leadscrews) I can rapid 13 IPM X&Y. The "kits"
as offered on my crude website, are mechanics only, no electronics
included. I can offer the electronics as well if one desires. For my
current set-up, 180oz/in motors, Xylotex based driver, pwr supply,
and all quick connect cables for motors I am thinking @$550.00.

Again Thank You For Your Responses, Every response helps!!
