Multiple stepper motor drivers and software

I am looking at 3 seperate motor/driver/power supplies to control a 3
axis mill. Will I need an extra board for the software to talk to
each driver giving it step and direction or does most software
packages use specific pins on the parallel port connection and I
would just wire them to each driver? I have seen many of the 3 or 4
axis driver boards and that sparked this question when I saw these 3
seperate motor/driver/power supplies offered on Ebay.
