You do know that current runs backwards below the equator.

Seriously though... Even if one could get some of these
parts surplus, and given the headaches of making it work,
I would rather just buy a proven product like a
"Gecko Drive" that has plenty of nice extras.

I'll admit though, that sometimes projects like these are
more for fun and the experience.

So I'll shut up.
