Re: Angle grinder for high speed bits on a CNC Bridgeport?

Jeff, I don't know how much torque you need for your application, but
I have had excellent results milling circuit boards and engraving
aluminum using an ENCO brand air powered pencil type grinder. It
spins at 70,000 rpm. Its the one ENCO is always advertising in
their "Hot Deals!" monthly flyer. All I really did was make a mount
to attach to the front flat part of my spindle head and I went to
Walmart and bought a .22cal Weaver style scope rail and 1" Weaver
scope rings - and the pencil grinder is held rigid in the scope
rings. I've also found that 70,000rpm on aluminum works best with
plenty of flood coolant or it tends to get REAL hot REAL
fast.....oops. On the good side however, I can mill circuit boards at
about 70" per minute.
