As some of you may or may not be aware, there is a program in
development that allows you to download and save the messages in the
Yahoogroups you subscribe to. It is called PG Offline. Currently it is
in beta with a full functioning time limited version. If you had tried a
previous beta, there is a new version just posted this morning. You can
register the program if you like it for $14.95. The site for the program
is http://www.personalgroupware.com
OK, now to get to the on topic portion. To save everyone from having to
download the complete messages of CCED, in cooperation with the program
author, I have put a package ready to import into PG Offline with the
full contents of CCED updated as of about an hour ago on a server for
download. You can get it at: http://206.19.206.56/ftp/ygrpack.zip
I will warn you ahead of time that even though I zipped the import
package it is still 65 mb. File will be available on this server for
about two weeks after which this machine is scheduled to be
decommissioned. So if you are interested in it get it now.
While the author did not intend the program to be a group archive it
does a nice job of it. Future development will allow a "library"
function to "group messages together under user defined headings & add
comments & links to other resources (e.g. word documents or even www
sites). You can 'publish' your libraries and share them with other
users." The program is pretty cool as is with much improved
functionality and interface to look through past messages than the
Yahoogroups site offers. I hope that many of you are willing to support
the authors efforts and spend $15 with him to get a registered copy of
this program.
Normal disclaimer, no association with this other than being a user and
thinking it is a great product that will help CCED members find and use
the knowledge of this group.
