High performance Machines

Hi
I would agree that 1000IMP for a five pitch screw is unrealistic. I
would want a direct drive system so the pitch of the screw would be the only
control of the "gearing" I haven't seen anything to make me think that it couldn't
handle the speeds to achieve common servo rpm ratings. I would be building
small machines 18" max on any axis. I run machines every day and would like to
make some custom machines that can perform up to that of factory built
machines. There are factory built direct drive 600 IMP machines that I believe us 5
pitch screws and 1200 to 1400 on something close to 2 pitch. Which makes me
think 2500 rpm is possible in a short rigid system. Am I way out in left feild
or is no one building machines over 200 IPM?? Thanks Josh
