Hi Salvador
If you decide to use timing belts I would suggest
Gates GT type. They have about the best registration accuracy.
If you find the price is too high you can carefully make or
buy some solid couplings if your motors are suitable for direct drive.
Normally couplings of this type require very precise alignment, but
if you float the motors (constrain only rotation) rather than solidly
bolt them down the system will allow some misalignment.

Hello,
I need to connect 5 stepper motors to his corresponding 5 axis, in a
micromill and microlathe (similar size to sherline). My first idea
was to use 5M HTD belts and pulleys, but the price is very high. I am
now looking for a homebrew solution, or more cheap industrial
solution. But I don't have still any interesting idea. I know Uni-Lat
coupling, but it's also expensive and supports less torque for small
coupling diameters.
Some ideas? Thanks in advance,
Salvador.
