I would guess that compensation for backlash after the axis has started moving
is not really needed. However, it might be useful for compensating for leadscrew wear.
Some of the smaller machines, like the Sherlines, don't use ballscrews. And on some
of the larger conversions, the ballscrews come later, if at all.
