plate. About five bucks at a discount floor tile place. That's big
enough for a full sheet of wet-or-dry paper so it can be used also
for truing flat surfaces.
Usual disclaimers, I don't know how flat it actually is but it's a
heck of a lot better than anything else laying around my bench and
has survived much abuse without chipping or cracking. It's stiffer
and tougher than an equivalent piece of glass.
