If you want to do true 3D rather than 2 1/2D like Marcus mentioned
then seriously consider Rhino. With your 2D autocad knowledge and a
few goes at the tutorials you can be producing some pretty good
stuff. It seems much more natural than Autocad for 3D and is still
accurate. It also allows import/export in more formats it seems.
Download the trial anyway, it's a blast
