A similar shot in the dark.

Buy a cheap Scanner, upgrade the glass to something less breakable
and remove the lid.

Use the scanner inverted over anything you want to get a trace from.
Perhaps it won't be big enough but you could possibly tile a little.

You can certainly import rasters into autocad. It you etched/drew a
scale on the glass it would be easy to scale as well.


To answer the question, yes I think so.

Can you program?
Are you ANY good at maths?

If it is yes and yes then I reckon it would be done. A pantograph
would be nice. You would need to work out what resolution encoders
were needed to get the resolution needed for the cut outs. Then you
could tell if mouse encoders were usable. If not www.usdigital.com
are cheap.
