Your 2 points:
1) Though there is iron all around, there is no iron in the mutual
coupling flux path of the armature winding. No iron, very little
inductance. Try to find an ironless armature motor that has
inductance even close to that of a standard motor.
2) That comes as a real surprise to me. We manufacture over 2,500
drives a month now. Over 80% go to OEMs who use them in commercial
equipment, and more than a few of these are Fortune 500 companies. I
wonder what they do with all those drives that you say can't be
certified.
