While you can make the coupling, and it's just a shaft coupler, it's
probably easier to buy one than make it.

The metal parts are straight forward enough, but the rubber spider
might be an interesting problem. You could make one from a rubber
stopper, if you want.

If you can align things precisely, you don't need the spider. If you
have some misalignment, then the spider will help.
