There will be no circuitry problems in cutting the scale to length. The
scale is stainless steel and may have a plastic strip on it so you have
to be careful when you cut it. The stainless is very hard and other who
have cut these have noted some difficulty with that hardness. I would
use a Dremel tool and a cutoff disk to get thru most of it.
