That might be true but I sell my dro's with linear glass scales for $695.00
so I guess I have a different logic.

My feeling is, as long as the machine in question is capable of cutting
your part, then the accuracy of the DRO and the operator will be the
determining factor in the quality of a part. As long as it is "square and
plumb", ain't no reason why a low cost milldrill could not turn out very
accurate parts with a good DRO.
