Yup, I was saying the same thing after the first tests of my Universal
Stepper Controller
prototype in 2001. I demoed that driving a Sherline at something like
40 IPM. I was
driving Vexta 5-phase motors up to 2500 RPM, and later
demoed a minimill with NEMA size 34 motors and Gecko 201 drivers at 1440 RPM
(90 IPM) at the 2003 NAMES show.
