You may also be interested the GS2 series drives from
www.automationdirect.com these are rock solid full featured VFD's
with all the options (even serial com) and are very inexpensive.
The Automation Direct GS2 drives *are* Hitachi drives. A lot of companies (Cutler Hammer comes to mind ) also relabel the Hitachi drives as their small line of VFDs.
THe Hitachi's work great, and are bulletproof but they are a pain to program from their front panel. Once you stumble through, and get them set up, you don't have to do it again unless you want to change a parameter though.
I use them a lot, so I finally invested in the PC software and cable ($125.00) and it sure speeds things up!
And again, I weigh in on the "dustproof" PC enclosure Pressurize the box! Its the only way. If you really want to do it right, pressurize it with outside air through a dryer duct type hose. This has the additional advantage of making the enclosure explosion proof. Explosions are bad.
If you want a packaged solution to this, McMaster Carr has a filtered blower fan with a cabinet vent kit for about $168.00
