Hi Dave,
You'll be very happy with the SJ100 - except if you want to decelereate
the spindle quickly. The braking unit is expensive. I wouldn't
recommend your suggested power configuration. As Jon mentioned, the
electrical noise problems will be a huge potential source of lost steps
and other weird behaviour that could take you days/weeks/months to
troubleshoot.
I'm not sure what voltage your BP motors require, I'm assuming you've
converted to servos, probably sub 100V? I would recommend getting a big
transformer, say 1500VA and build a 60V dc - 70V dc power supply for
your motors. In my case, I also use another $40 power supply to provide
24V dc for relays. The Rutex drives also need a source of 24V dc which
I also derive from the 24V supply. It's a bit more complicated, but it
gives you the best chance of success and reliable operation.
