Hi David

Your litany is familiar to those of us on the emc user list at
sourceforge. Hence my snip.

Installing EMC isn't like buying a package of CD's from the local store
and putting them on a computer because the operating system required by
the EMC is not one that is supplied by Red Hat or by any other Linux
packager or indeed a builder of computers. The OS required by the EMC is
supplied within the context of a BDI, be it 2.xx, TNG, or Live. But the
packages in each of these are only good within the context of the rest of
that bunch. It's a bit like blood transfusions. It needs to be
compatable or you'll create other issues.

Now you can build your own real time OS around those supplied by RH, MDK,
DEB, or SuSE but you will have to understand quite a bit about making
those modifications in order to be successful at it. It is much easier
to just use one of the existing. If you can't use a usb mouse with 2xx
then try a hard drive install of the live disk and modify it to your
machine needs. Catch me off list if you'd like a writeup on how to do
this.
