Hi:
You have got a number of responses to your question. Mariss is an
expert on drives and motors and he has outlined the basic components
of a CNC system. Software comes in three flavors, DOS (TurboCNC),
Windows (Mach2) and Linux (EMC) to mane a few. They all work well so
pick what your are comfortable with. Most of your money should go in
the machine. Good mechanical hardware is essential. The best control
will not make a bad machine work well.
