Bob,
On my next cnc system project, I plan to machine metal (e.g.
aluminum). How accurate is your fixed gantry system (or whatever you
name it) as pictured in your campbelldesigns.com site? Can it
machine metal projects and how precise is it? I know the aluminum
extrusion is not very strong, so I plan on using thick mild steel to
provide strength a rigidity. Will the plans of using mild steel and
the fixed gantry design work in creating a cnc system accurate enough
to mill metal as compared with converting a drill press to cnc (using
dovetail X & Y metal tables)?
Thanks,
