Roy,

The part is clamped with it's center roughly at x=0,y=0.
I say roughly because the pieces are irregular and oversized.

When the machine wakes up 0,0,0 is at the center of travel.
After the MDI procedure it is still the center of travel
for x=0 and y=0, but the z=0 becomes the position where
the tool just touches the work surface.

Fairly accurate holes for registration pins are
pretty easy...just do it in waste areas with a previous
cnc run! Actually a hole and a slot is my preferred method
as it is kinematic...i.e. does not require super accurate
multiple hole center-to-center distances.
